The Breath
‘The Breath’ paintings are informed by my experience of investigating the breath through teaching yoga and practising meditation. These disciplines inspire me to be minimal with my work, to convey the breath in abstract paintings as something that can be light and barely there, or bound and held, something we have little control over. There is an overlap between the 'tea ceremony series and 'the breath series'. I see both the cup and the body as empty vessels, with the capacity to contain that which sustains, be it liquid or air.
